The system comprises a strobed laser 1, a lens 2, a mirror
3 driven by a galvanometric deflector 4, an arcuate strip
5 having mirrored characters 6 on a matt diffusing bac]c~
ground 7, a field lens 8 and bimorph deflectors 9 and 9,

In operation, strobed laser 1 is operated in synchroni~
zation with mirror 3 so that light pulses reflected from
one facet of mirror 3 is intercepted after reflection
from any of characters 6 by another facet of mirror 6 at
the proper instant to direct the impulse into field
lens 8, Mirror 3 comprises at least two mirrors fixed
at right angles to one another, Mirror 3 is located at
the point around which the radius of curvature of arcuate
strip 5 revolves, Lens 2 is used so that the laser beam
will cover the entire character and thus form a uniformly
illuminated image,

Eimorph deflectors 9 and 9 direct the letter image 11
into the desired location on element 10, Element 10 can
be a screen, a photoreceptor

1 a display panel or any
other optically sensitive element,
