A pigment useful for development of electrostatic latent
images may be prepared by the polymerization of acrylic
ester monomers in the presence of pigment particles,

Monomers which may be employed may be represented by the
following:

           ~-OR
H 2

where R1 may be a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having
1 to 4 carbon atoms and where R2 may be an unsaturated group
having the formula:

CnH2nl or CnH2n3

wherein n is an integer from 4 to 24 without limitation as
to the position of the unsaturated bond in or the degree
of branching if any.

The monomers may be polymerized individually or together
in the presence of a pigment which may include carbon black,
aniline black, phthalocyanine blue and others to form the
graft. Polymerization initiators which are useful include
