Abstract

Apparatus for providing structure in a charge distribution of a photoreceptor, The apparatus is comprised of a source of radiation 26, a plurality of apertures 28 and a lens system 24 for focusing the illumination, by the apertures, on the photoreceptor 11. The lens system is arranged to provide an overlapping of the aperture images formed on the photoreceptor. The overlapping images minimize the requirement on the intensity of radiation from the radiation source. The position of the apparatus from the photoreceptor provides a method for control of the size of the structure components on the photoreceptor charge. A line structure or a dot structure can be applied to the charge distribution 15 of the photoreceptor.
