Abstract

A DC servo~controlledmotor system is used to provide a directional rotation torque for accurate positioning of a mechanism. In the figure, a motor 2, when driven in the forward direction, rotates a cam 3 against a spring~biased pawl 4~ The in~and~outcarnmed movement of the pawl is sensed by an optical sensor 5~ When the correct number of steps are taken as counted by the sensor, the motor reverses direction and the cam biases against the pawl with a holding current, thus providing an accurate reference point~
