Abstract

A contact fuser assert~1yfor use in electrostatic repro- ducing apparatus including an internally heated metal core 31 cooperating with a resilient backup roll 32 to form a nip 34 through which substrate material 35 carry- ing toner images 36 is moved with the toner images contac- ting the metal core. A sump 39 of release material 40 is supported adjacent the heated metal core and contains a release material which is applied to the heated metal core as it rotates through the release material. A metering blade 42 forming a part of the sump contacts the heated metal core to thereby meter the release material to a predetermined thickness.

A contact fuser assert~1yfor use in electrostatic repro-
ducing apparatus including an internally heated metal
core 31 cooperating with a resilient backup roll 32 to
form a nip 34 through which substrate material 35 carry-
ing toner images 36 is moved with the toner images contac-
ting the metal core. A sump 39 of release material 40 is
supported adjacent the heated metal core and contains a
release material which is applied to the heated metal core
as it rotates through the release material. A metering
blade 42 forming a part of the sump contacts the heated
metal core to thereby meter the release material to a
predetermined thickness.

A closed cell sponge construction 52 is supported at the
lower portion of the sump below the area of contact between
the blade and the metal core whereby release material
leaked out of the sump between the blade and the metal
core is prevented from contaminating the substrate mater-
ial and parts of the reproducing apparatus.
