Abstract

The AMAT system comprises a photoconductive layer, for example, selenium, coated with a charge transport layer, for example, polyvinylcarbazole (PVK), A difficulty of this structure is getting the PVK to adhere strongly to the selenium layer so that mechanical stress will not cause separation of the layers. There is disclosed a process wherein a thin polymeric adhesive layer is applied to the surface of the selenium layer by glow discharge techniques, Subsequently, the PVK layer can be coated over the adhesive layer by conventional techniques and a strong bond will be formed with the adhesive polymeric layer.
