Abstract

In order to determine variation in speed of a photoreceptor belt for synchronization and timing interface of functions, a strip of magnetic recording tape is fixed around the cir-cumference of the photoreceptor belt and located out of the image area. - continuous tone signal of relative high fre-quency is applied to the tape after the belt is installed in the machine, This signal is sensed and accurately portrays the speed of the belt since any change in speed will affect the sensed frequency on the tape.
