Abstract

A method for developing latent electrostatic images substrate is described, The method comprises: substrate; a) forming an electrostatic latent image on a b) supplying a liquid developer to the electro-static latent image from a liquid developer assembly having an applicator with a substantially uniform pattern of raised portions and depressed portions, a liquid developer supply means having liquid developer therein and a doctoring device to provide developing quantities of the liquid developer in the depressed portions of the applicator and to provide raised portions substantially free of liquid developer, the applicator being positioned adjacent the substrate bearing the image to be developed so that the liquid developer is electrostatically pulled in image configuration from the ap-plicator to the substrate bearing the image; and
