Abstract

Recent work has shown that crystals of tetrathiofulvalene-tetracyanoguinodimethan (TTF-TCNQ) and of dimethyl-TTF-TCNQ (ATTF-TCNQ) show some properties of superconductors at tem-peratures on the order of 60°K. However, these materials are unable to sustain their superconducting properties due to crystal distortion.

Recent work has shown that crystals of tetrathiofulvalene-
tetracyanoguinodimethan (TTF-TCNQ) and of dimethyl-TTF-TCNQ
(ATTF-TCNQ) show some properties of superconductors at tem-
peratures on the order of 60°K. However, these materials
are unable to sustain their superconducting properties due
to crystal distortion.

This disclosure proposes that the partial and full selenium
analogues of TTF be used with the acceptor TCNQ to stabilize
the superconducting state. The full selenium analogue of
TTF corresponds to the structural formula:

wherein the R groups are small electron donating groups
such as H or CH
