Abstract

A multi-bin sorter 10 having a vertical array of bins 28 movable to bring individual bins selectively into operative position with a sheet discharge station 103 where a copy sheet S is advanced by rolls 104 and 11. Just prior to the arrival of sheet S, a trail edge hold down apparatus 201 serves to contain the edges of the previously received sheets to facilitate the insertion of the incoming sheet S. The apparatus 201 includes a plurality of fingers 205 which are pivotally connected to links 207 and 209. Links 202 are positioned by links 211 and driven by links 215. Links 209 and 211 are pivotally fixed at one end to a frame 220. Link 215 is driven in the direction of the arrow of an axis 225 to effect a rotary movement and causing fingers 205 to move along a path P.
