Abstract

A divide by three digital counter which uses flip-flops FF-l and FF-2 enclosed in dashed lines provides a non-symmetrical output. The non-symmetrical divide by three output waveform is coupled to the reset of flip-flop FF-3. The input clock C of FF-3 is connected to the input square wave whose fre-quency is to be divided by a count of three. The I input of FF-3 is connected to a positive potential Vcc.

A divide by three digital counter which uses flip-flops FF-l
and FF-2 enclosed in dashed lines provides a non-symmetrical
output. The non-symmetrical divide by three output waveform
is coupled to the reset of flip-flop FF-3. The input clock
C of FF-3 is connected to the input square wave whose fre-
quency is to be divided by a count of three. The I input
of FF--3 is connected to a positive potential Vcc.

In operation, two .f lip-f lops FF-l and FF-2 in the divide
by three counter clock on the positive going transition
of the clock and flip-flop FF-3 clocks on the negative
going transition of the clock. Alternatively, the f lip-
f lops FF-l and FF-2 may clock on the negative going trans-
ition of the clock and FF-3 may clock on the positive
going transition of the clock.
