It is disclosed that an electrophotographic plate may be over~
coated with a protective layer comprising a cross-~linked
polymer which comprises a polymeric esterification product of
a dicarboxylic acid, said dicarboxylic acid having the general
formula:

wherein R~ represents a substituted or
unsubstituted alkylene radical having
from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, arylene radi~
cals or alkylene arylene radicals having
from 10 to 12 carbon atoms and n3 is less
than 2,

and a diol comprising a diphenol, said diphenol
reactant satisfying the general formula:

1 O~R~O (OR")n2 H

wherein R represents substituted and un-
substituted alkylene radicals having from
2 to 12 carbon atoms, alkylidene radicals
having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms and
cycloalkylidene radicals having from 3 to
12 carbon atoms R' and R" represent sub~
stituted and unsubstituted alkylene radi-
cals having from 2 to 12 carbon atoms,
alkylene arylene radicals having from 8 to
12 carbon atoms and arylene radicals; X
and X~, represents hydrogen or an alkyl
radical having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms;

n and n2 are each at least 1 and the
a~7erage sum of n1 and n2 is less than 21.
