Abstract

A clutch mechanism for selectively disconnecting one or more stitching or stapling heads (18) in a wire stitching or stapling apparatus- The clutch mechanism includes a clutch member (250) selectively displaceable between a position over the driving tang (240) of the stitching or stapling head (18) to couple the driving tang (240) to the head driving bar (242) , and a nonintercepting position wherein the driving tang (240) is uncoupled from the driving bar (242) Lock pin (260) cooperates with hole pair (262, 263) in the lock member (250) to retain the lock member (250) in the position selected-

STITCHING HEAD BYPASS APPARATUS (Cont~d)

A clutch mechanism for selectively disconnecting one or more
stitching or stapling heads (18) in a wire stitching or
stapling apparatus~ The clutch mechanism includes a clutch
member (250) selectively displaceable between a position over
the driving tang (240) of the stitching or stapling head (18)
to couple the driving tang (240) to the head driving bar
(242) , and a nonintercepting position wherein the driving tang
(240) is uncoupled from the driving bar (242) Lock pin (260)
cooperates with hole pair (262, 263) in the lock member (250)
to retain the lock member (250) in the position selected~

The driving bar (242 is driven in reciprocatory fashion by a
motor through a driving link (53)
