Abstract

An improvement directed toward sorters that employ picker fingers to strip a sheet from a paper path is disclosed. The paper path in the figure is defined by the belt 20 and a series of rollers 10, 12 and 14 above the belt and 11, 13 and 15 below the belt Conventionally, a separate shaft is included for each roller and finger. Included herein is a design that has fewer parts and is more compact that comprises combining the function of the finger shafts 5 and the roller shafts by mounting fingers 50 and the rollers above the belt 20 on the same shafts thereby eliminating one shaft.
