Abstract

This disclosure is directed to a method for preparing poly-para-zylylene.. The first step in the process is the synthesis of a polyester from. an acid or an ester which upon decbmpo. sition produces a-gas such as . carbon dioxide. Exemplary of starting materials for the synthesis are a-diaikyi oxaiate such as dimethyl oxalate, diethyl oxalate, dibutyj. opiate, and the like and & dioi, preferably para-xylene-&,,-diol. When the starting materials are transesterified and condensed,. an intermediate is fojaned.
