Abstract

This idea relates to a sensor for detecting missed stripping of paper from an imaging drum in an automatic xerographic copying apparatus. It is proposed that the dicorotron be used for precleaning and also be used to detect sheets of paper which are missed by the stripping mechanism, In addition to discharging residual toner, the dicorotron detects sheets of paper missed by the stripper mechanism. Detection is by noting the change in current between the dicorotron shield and the plate when the unstripped paper passes under it.

This idea relates to a sensor for detecting missed stripping
of paper from an imaging drum in an automatic xerographic
copying apparatus. It is proposed that the dicorotron be used
for precleaning and also be used to detect sheets of paper
which are missed by the stripping mechanism, In addition to
discharging residual toner, the dicorotron detects sheets of
paper missed by the stripper mechanism. Detection is by
noting the change in current between the dicorotron shield and
the plate when the unstripped paper passes under it.

When no paper is under the dicorotron, the shield current
about equals the plate current, However, when a sheet of
paper is on the plate, there will be a large reduction in the
plate and shield current. The change in current can be de-
tected and can trigger corrective measures.
