Abstract

To permit one to simultaneously observe and record details of a welding operation, a conventional welder's mask 10 is al-tered by (1) removing a narrow 5/32" strip 12 from the lower peripheral area of the filter 14, (2) reducing the total thickness of the filter/cover glass combination to improve the visual angle, and (3) adding a 2" radial cutout at the neck portion 16 of the mask.

To permit one to simultaneously observe and record details of
a welding operation, a conventional welder's mask 10 is al-
tered by (1) removing a narrow 5/32" strip 12 from the lower
peripheral area of the filter 14, (2) reducing the total
thickness of the filter/cover glass combination to improve the
visual angle, and (3) adding a 2" radial cutout at the neck
portion 16 of the mask.

This alteration gives one 3°of unobstructed vision to observe
supplemental elements of the welding operation without sac-
rificing the eye protection afforded by the entire filter area
while observing the quality and technique at the point of the
arc. The 2" radial cutout at the neck portion 16 provides
adequate clearance to simultaneously read and record data.
