Abstract

In the making of electrodeposited latex coating suitanle for printing masters, the relief height or amount of latex has to be precisely controlled for pH, time, voltage and current density. A method is provided where the image height is con-trolled by a precisely spaced electrode so that uniform latex height is maintained regardless of variations in other vari-ables. A conductive knify electrode with an edge that is insulated or a knife which ridex on insulated rails, is pre-cisely spaced from a grounded conductive substrate with an image resist to provide the coating thicknedd dexired. The coontrolled gap literally chave off an excess deposited latex to maintain a constant image height.
