Abstract

A multi-faceted scanner 1 is shown in Figure 1, Bore 2 has a supporting hub (not shown) around which the scanner rotates when utilized in scanning applications- In a preferred em-bodiment, the aluminum alloy is designated as 7O75-T65l- The precisely machined aluminum polygon I is then coated with a nickel layer 3 (Figure 2) employing an electroless nickel coating technique conventional to the art preferably to a thickness of O-OO4 inches.

A multi~-faceted scanner 1 is shown in Figure 1, Bore 2 has a
supporting hub (not shown) around which the scanner rotates
when utilized in scanning applications~ In a preferred em~
bodiment, the aluminum alloy is designated as 7O75~T65l~ The
precisely machined aluminum polygon I is then coated with a
nickel layer 3 (Figure 2) employing an electroless nickel
coating technique conventional to the art preferably to a
thickness of O~OO4 inches.

The nickel coated facets are then polished and coated in turn
with aluminum and silicon monoxide for maximum reflectivity
and durability
