Abstract

In a multi-layered photoreceptor comprising a conductive sub-strate, a layer of a charge carrier generating material and a layer of a charge carrier transporting material, an interface or blocking layer between the substrate and the charge carrier generating layer comprising an ultraviolet light crosslinkable material. The material is exposed to ultraviolet light to provide an insoluble layer which maintains its integrity and blocking properties when solvent cast films are deposited over it, A typical composition is made up of equal parts of N-N-dimethylaminoethylmethacrylate and pentaerythr itol tetra-acrylate with approximately 10% of 2-t-butylanthraquinone initiator, There are many ultraviolet light curable materials and the layer can be optimized with respect to adhesion, mechanical properties, cost, etc.
