Abstract

To protect against failure of an electrometer (2) used to regulate the bias applied to the developing roll or rolls (3) of an electrostatic type copier (4) , a manual bypass switch (5) is provided in parallel with the electrometer (2) The bypass switch (5) , when closed, couples the source (6) of voltage potential directly to the developing brush (3) A voltage dropping resistor (7) is used in the bypass line (8) to provide a predetermined bypass potential to the developing brush on closure of the bypass switch.
