Abstract

The disclosure relates to metallic belts suitable for use as a photoreceptor substrate for the 9200 xerographic machines manufactured by Xerox. It is disclosed that a continuous metallic substrate be formed by welding the ends of the appro-priate metallic strip using a fine beam of highly excellerated electrons in hard or partial vacuum. The weld is then smoothed by a secondary mechanical working or lapping step. The belt is then subsequently coated with selenium or a selenium alloy. The belt may then be used as a photoreceptor.
