The figure shows a document handling system adapted for use in
conjunction with a copier/duplicator, The document handler
includes a friction belt 1 which is arranged to advance docu~-

port rolls 4 are positioned ahead of the friction belt 1 to

Static buildup on the document due to its advancement by the
respective input 4 and output 5 transports as well as the
friction belt 1 is reduced by the use of a static eliminating
device 7. The static eliminating device 7 is positioned up-
stream of the friction belt 1 and downstream of the input
rolls 4. The static eliminator 7 shown comprises a pin-type
corona~generating device, It is arranged to discharge the
document of static charge generated by the input rolls 4
thereby minimizing the charge buildup on the friction belt 1.
The positioning of the static eliminator before the friction
belt 1 achieves adequate static discharge to provide good
output stacking in the tray 6.
