A cable support 10 is shown for supporting a length of flat
ribbon cable 12 between a disk drive 14 and either a disk drive
controller or another disk drive (both not shown) . The disk
drive end of the cable 10 is mounted to the drive 14 which is
itself supported on a mounting rack slide and is capable of
extending out of its cabinet on the slide about 20 inches. The
other end of the cable in the cabinet is fastened to the back
corner of the mounting rack.

The cable support 10 is desirably "Wa-shaped, although it also
could be "V"~shapedor any number of uV~su combined, Whatever
the configuration, the cable support 10 supports the ribbon
cable 12 in the vicinity of the U~bends, but without re~
straining the flexing of the cable. Such flexing can occur
distributed along the length of the cable, as shown, and need
not be concentrated at the hinge points of the cable support
10. This significantly reduces strain and extends cable life.
