Disclosed is the use of compositions employed on reusable
imaging surfaces primarily for protecting such surface thereby
facilitating image development, improving developed image
transfer, improving removal of residual toner and minimizing
toner filming or build-up in the imaging surface. The
material used is a bis-amide of the formula

R1-C-N-R2-N-C-R3

wherein R1 and R3 may be substantially unbranched, straight

chained structures of CH

3(CH2) where x is about 10 to about

20, and R2 may be an alkylene group having from 2 to about 22

carbon atoms, phenylene, naphthylene, and phenylene or

naphthylene bearing lower alkyl substituents of 1 to about 7

carbon atoms in either straight, branched, or cyclic

configuration.

The bis-amides can be added to the developing composition. In
a preferred embodiment, the bis-amides used are
ethylenediamine bis-stearamide,
