Abstract

There is described a flexible photoreceptor member and a method for fabricating the member- The member comprises a polymeric substrate such as Mylar with a nickel selenide adhesive blocking layer and a photoconductive layer which comprises selenium- The member is fabricated by initially vacuum depositing on the substrate an approximately 100 200 A thick layer of nickel followed by depositing an approxi-mately 50 micron thick layer of selenium without breaking the vacuums The nickel selenide layer is formed by reaction between the nickel and selenium. The resulting member does not have any air-formed oxide layer which can affect its mechanical or electrical interfacial characteristics.
