Abstract

Disclosed is image formation in an electrophoretic imaging system obtained in high quality by coating the conducting electrode in the photoelectrophoretic imaging system with a layer of material that photoinjects charge in response to radiation outside the visible spectrum while at the same time being inert to visible 1ight- This layer is activated by the proper radiation during electrostatic transfer and the resulting charge flux will help eliminate pigment from the conducting electrode and on the paper or other viewing substrates. As it is inert to visible light, the layer will not affect image formation.
