Abstract

A belt transport 1 feeds sheets 2 into an output bin or tray 3. The sheets 2 already in the tray are compressed and properly stacked there by integral, flexible flapper members 5 on the transport belt 1. The flappers 5 normally lie flat over the belt attached to it at only their upstream edges. As each flapper 5 goes around a small diameter pulley 6 at the end of the belt transport 1, it extends out tangentially from the belt to strip off and guide the overlying incoming sheet over the stack, Then the flapper 5 drops that sheet onto the stack and flexibly compresses the stack of sheets already in the tray 3 as shown by the dashed outline,
