Abstract

This disclosure relates to a xerographic copier wherein a document 11 to be copied is placed upon a transparent platen 10 so that a light pattern reflected therefrom may be utilized to form a latent image on a photoreceptor l8- The reflected image is obtained, in one form, by moving an exposure lamp 15 (i,e-, scanning optics) beneath the document together with suitable reflection means such as mirrors 12 and 13- A lamp (not shown) separate from the exposure lamp and independently energizable or means for energizing the exposure lamp prior to the scanning cycle is provided to facilitate registration of a portion of a document to be reproduced. The means for ener-gizing the exposure lamp for registration purposes may comprise an operator activated switch button contained in the control panel of the machine.
