Abstract

A means for simply and accurately aligning the print wheel hub of the print wheel motor to the rotating transducer of the servo system of a printer is disclosed, The print wheel servo feed-back loop includes a transducer mounted on the back-end portion of the print wheel motor shaft. This transducer consists of two circular printed circuit boards that generate a motor rotational position signal, which is subsequently processed by the servo electronics, One of the printed circuit boards is fixedly mounted to the back-faceportion of the print wheel motor assembly, and the other printed circuit board is mounted on the print wheel motor shaft and rotates with the print wheel motor and the print wheel, A stationary sensor fixedly mounted at the rear of the print wheel motor locates the top dead center or -home0 position by sensing a slug located on the rotating transducer printed circuit board, Therefore, the phasing adjustment of the print wheel is accomplished by mechanically setting the relationship of the print wheel hub to the rotating transducer element, Phasing refers to that portion of horizontal registration, which is attributable to error in the rotational position of the print wheel at the time that the hammer strikes the print wheel character/spoke,
