Abstract

The use of air jets to strip a sheet 2 of paper from a photoreceptor surface 1 at which a developed image has been transferred and to control the movement of the sheet immediately after stripping is well known. It is proposed that the functions of stripping and subsequent handling be separated by providing a stripping manifold 3 having independent stripping jets 4 and deflecting or handling jets 5 and switching

the air flow from the stripping jets 4 to the handling jets 5 immediately after stripping has been achieved. As shown, independent control is provided by dividing the manifold 3 into alternate stripping and handling sections shown respectively on the two sectional views. The light activated switch 6 changes the air supply from the stripping to the handling jets. It has been found that by utilizing independently

operated jets for these two functions, the required air flow may be as much as halved.
