Background

The conventional solution uses straight rails on the impingement heater to position the media that holds parts for placement (see Figures 1 and 2). More precise media handling and part

placement is required for needle dispense systems.

General description

The disclosed method is a modification to an impingement heater, which precises media carrying electronic packages in an underfill needle dispense system. The modification also enables tools of the same make/model to be matched with respect to work-piece origin, enabling recipe transferability from tool to tool.

         The key element is a highly precise rail with multiple precising pins which engage with media carrying electronic packages and precises it in underfill needle dispense systems.

         The disclosed method provides advantages, including:

•         Improved functionality due to making the work-piece origin equivalent for all tools of the same make and model
