it is well known that mercapto functional polyorganosiloxanes and carboxy functional polyorganosiloxanes can be applied as release agents to fuser members. In U.S. Patent 4,011,362, metal substrates are coated with carboxy functional siloxanes to improve their release characteristics; and in U.S. Patent 4,029,827, polyorganosiloxanes having functional mercapto groups are applied to a heated fuser member in an electrostatic reproducing apparatus to form thereon a thermally stable, renewable, self-cleaning layer having superior toner release properties for electroscopic thermoplastic resin toners.

The present disclosure relates to the application of a class of release agents having sulfur-containing functional groups which do not contain replaceable hydrogen atoms to a heated fuser member in an electrostatic reproducing apparatus. In preferred embodiments, these release agents are applied to bare metal fuser members.

The release agents having sulfur-containing functional groups which do not contain replaceable hydrogen atoms may be attached to a hydrocarbon, a polymeric hydro- carbon chain or a polymeric siloxane. These backbones to which the sulfur- containing functional groups are attached may be straight chained or branched or mixtures thereof.
