Abstract

This disclosure relates to an improved, retractable, corotron electrode mounting and holding device. Corotron electrodes and means for mounting corotron electrodes in corona-charging devices are described in U.S. Patents 3,983,393 and 4,086,640. The present disclosure describes an improved mounting means for installing corona electrodes and placing tension thereon in corona-charging devices.

This disclosure relates to an improved, retractable, corotron electrode mounting and holding device. Corotron electrodes and means for mounting corotron

electrodes in corona--charging devices are described in U.S. Patents 3,983,393 and 4,086,640. The present disclosure describes an improved mounting means for installing corona electrodes and placing tension thereon in corona--charging devices.

The present disclosure is based upon a variation of the mechanism of a retractable ball point pen. In a retractable ball point pen, the retractor is pushed and engages,

and after pushing again the retractor comes out of the body of the pen under tension from a biasing means therein. In the present disclosure, the extending element of the springloaded or biasing mechanism is spring loaded or biased under all conditions.

Referring to the drawing, 1 and 1' represent end blocks for supporting corona electrode 2. End block 1 is movable and end block 1' is fixed, The retractable device 5 is fixedly mounted upon end block 1'. A plunger, designated by numeral 3,

engages end block 1 at one end and passes through end block P at the other end. Plunger 3 passes through tube 8 which is also the means for mounting the retracting

device 5 in end block 1'. Biasing members 6 and 6' are located in tube 8. As pressure is exerted upon plunger 3 at end...
