Abstract

Disclosed is a photoreceptor member of the type described in U.S. Patent 3,787,208 by 3ones, wherein the chains or filaments are of trigonal selenium, which comprises the encapsulation of trigonal selenium with an organic photoconductive materiaL The trigonal selenium is encapsulated in, for example, polyvinylcarbazole, The particles of polyvinylcarbazole containing the trigonal selenium are then dispersed with larger particles of matrix material, e.g., organic resinous material. The smaller particles of polyvinylcarbazole containing the trigonal selenium are dispersed in such a way as to fill the interstices between the larger matrix particles thereby forming chains of polyvinylcarbazole containing the trigonal selenium through the thickness of the member. The member may then be fused in order to fuse the matrix material and if desired, to fuse the polyvinylcarhazole particles containing the trigonal selenium.
