Abstract

For a stitcher in which the stitches or staples are formed from a supply of wire wound on a spool, it is proposed that a collar be loosely fitted on the wire a desired distance from the end. The wire passes through a guide hole in a plate during unwinding and the collar is arrested by the plate (without preventing continued wire feed) giving a visible warning that a new full spool should be fitted. The collar is suitably of coloured plastic.
