Abstract

When copying book pages on a platen-.typecopier, the platen cover is usually in the open position exposing the operator to scan-4ampglare. To obviate this problem, a platen cover 5 having a Fresnel reflecting lens 6 floatingly mounted therein is used, At the side of cover 5 there is provided a hinged panel 7 and an air bag 8. On closure of cover 5 over a book, lens 6 retracts in harmony with the book thickness. At the same time air bag 8 is placed under compression to block, in cooperation with panel 7, light leakage.
