Two problems present in electrophotographic systems using powder development are the elimination of the ozone which may exist as a by product of the photo~ receptor charging function and the removal of unwanted toner particles following the development and cleaning stepS Various devices have been utilized to decompose, filter or otherwise remove ozone concentration.

Toner particles remaining on the photoreceptor after cleaning are sometimes removed by a combination rotating brush and vacuum system with a filter bag collecting the toner particles~ In addition, toner particles sometimes escape from the development zone and pose a combination threat to other areas of the machine; these suspended particles must be removed by venting to outside air, filtering or some other method.

It is proposed that an air flow be established within the machine by an exhaust fan. The air flow path is redirected so as to sweep both ozone and toner particles through a single device which combines the functions of ozone elimination and toner filtering. This device comprises the usual toner filter bag which is almost completely covered with an ozone removal material such as TOYOBO K or a variation. The air would pass through the toner particle removal portion of the filter first and through the ozone filtering portion next.
