In many imaging processes wherein electric fields are established by means of electrically charging dielectric webs, there is a need to quickly and efficiently remove the electric field by neutralizing the electrostatic charge residing thereon.

The efficient and rapid discharge of a dielectric web is achieved by contacting the web with a conductive rubber blade biased to an AC frequency beyond the image resolution capability of the imaging system.
