Abstract

This invention is directed to producing open pore xerolithographic plates by imagewise rupture of a closed pore sponge. The imaging plate consists of a mechanical support member overcoated with a two-phase matrix that represents a closed pore sponge. The continuous phase of the closed pore sponge is preferably a silicone elastomer, The discontinuous phase constitutes a gas, a liquid or a solid.
