Abstract

In a scanning system for a copier having a mirror system, a very narrow fuIi-rate mirror 1 (about 0.08 inch wide) located within the beam returning from the half-rate mirror 2 to the lens 3 is used. The full-rate mirror 1 is suitably formed as shown as a 450 facet on the top edge of a thin glass plate 4. This is a compact system having reduced sensitivity to scan vibrations; and even though the full-rate mirror obstructs some of the beam and reduces the light during scan by between 8% and 18%, this is trivial for a CCD imager.
