Abstract

This disclosure relates to laminated articles having a coating of a copolymer of perf luoroalkyl perfluorovinyl ether and tetrafluoroethylene and more particularly, to laminated articles having a coating of the copolymer of perfluoroalkyl perfluorovinyl ether and tetraf luoroethylene which is filled with specified fillers. The fillers of this disclosure include glass and metallized glass and more preferably, glass fibers and metallized glass fibers.

This disclosure relates to laminated articles having a coating of a copolymer of perf luoroalkyl perfluorovinyl ether and tetrafluoroethylene and more particularly, to laminated articles having a coating of the copolymer of perfluoroalkyl perfluorovinyl ether and tetraf luoroethylene which is filled with specified fillers. The fillers of this disclosure include glass and metallized glass and more preferably, glass fibers and metallized glass fibers.

Copolymers of perf luoroalkyl perf luorovinyl ether and tetraf luoroethylene have been used as coatings upon various articles. In one preferred embodiment, such fluorocarbon polymers have been used to coat fuser rolls which are normally used in the field of electrophotography where the fluorocarbon polymer is coated upon a core member. The fluorocarbon polymers are generally coated upon a base member in the form of a sleeve, in the form of a spray coating of the powdered fluorocarbon polymer and in various other techniques well known in the art. According to the present disclosure, these fluorocarbon polymers made of perf luoroalkyl perf luorovinyl ether and tetraf luoroethylene contain glass or metallized glass to improve certain properties of the coating. The preferred form of the glass or metallized glass is fibrous.

Although the preferred copolymers of perfluoroalkyl, perf luorovinyl ether and tetraf luoroethylene are resin copolymers; that is, those which are uncrosslinked, this disclosure also relates to those copolymers of perf luoroalkyl perf luorovinyl ether and tetraf luoroethylene...
