Abstract

It is proposed to make a conformable fuser roll for use in an electrostatographic copying machine by providing a layer of a stable elastomer, such as the Teflon-type elastomer made by the E. 1. du Pont Company under its tradename Kalrez, on a heat-conducting metallic core. On the elastomer layer there is provided a thin layer of du Pont's Teflon PFA. The PFA layer may be fused to the elastomeric layer and worked to appropriate thickness and surface finish. The resultant soft fuser roll has a long life, is abrasion resistant and has good release properties.
