Abstract

This invention relates to a device for developing latent electrostatic images carried by an imaging surface. In the embodiment of the device shown in the drawing, the device 10 comprises a first cylindrical member 12, a second cylindrical member 14 spaced from said first cylindrical member, said first and second cylindrical members juxtaposed to an imaging surface 16 and spaced therefrom to permit developer material on said members to come into contact with said imaging surface, means for rotating the cylindrical members in opposed directions, a primary metering blade 18 forming a gap against the first cylindrical member through which the total developer flow is metered, a secondary metering blade 20

located between said first cylindrical member and said second cylindrical member at a position to divide the total developer flow into portions for passing through the development nips formed by the imaging surface with the first and second cylindrical members. The clearance between the secondary metering blade 20 and the first cylindrical member 12 determines the amount of developer flow through the development nip between the first cylindrical member 12 and the imaging surface 16.
