Abstract

This disclosure relates to a roll fuser apparatus for fixing toner images on copy substrates. It is characterized by simplicity of design and serviceability. To this end, a fuser roll 12, pressure roll 14 and a weighted wick 16 are all supported for vertical movement such that raising the pressure roll which is below the fuser roll which, in turn, is below the wick causes engagement with the fuser roll and then engagement between the fuser roll and wick. The wick is lifted from its supports 18 by the upward fuser roll movement. Accordingly, the weight of the wick and support therefor provide the necessary frictional engagement between the wick and f user roll surf ace.

A pair of cams 20 rotatably supported by a cam shaft 22 are provided for effecting the above-described movement of the fuser roll, pressure roll and the wick.
