Abstract

A toner dispenser control is provided with both nominal dispensing of toner and override dispensing of additional toner. In the nominal dispensing mode, a foam dispensing roll is incrementally advanced by drive tab 10 a distance which is controlled by the movement of nominal adjustment screw 12 whose oscillating motion is interrupted by the nominal dispensing lobe 14 of return to nominal cam 16. In the nominal dispensing mode, the dispensing roll is advanced through a relatively small arc for each increment since the nominal adjustment screw 12 attached to the upper end of cam follower 18 is stopped from contacting the surface of the return to nominal cam 16 and the drive tab is only incremented

through a small arc. The drive tab 10 is incrementally advanced a small distance through two incremented clutches, one contained within cam follower 20 and one within housing 22. The movement of the drive tab 10 is controlled through the distance the cam follower 18 moves, which is controlled by the distance the nominal adjustment screw incremently moves relative to the return to nominal cam. In operation, the gear 24 is driven at a constant speed. On the back of gear 24 is an eccentric gear 26 upon which cam follower 18 rests.
