Abstract

In a magnetic brush development system, the developer roll has a roughened surface to frictionally advance the developer material into contact with the latent image recorded on the photoconductive surface. A magnet disposed interiorly of the developer roll applies a normal force on the developer material securing it releasably to the developer roller. If the magnetic member disposed interiorly of the developer roll produces nonuniform magnetic forces and the developer roll has straight knurls thereon, sliding of the developer material occurs. The transverse sliding of the developer material produces crossmixing.
