Abstract

In the development system of an electrophotographic printing machine, it is frequently desirable to provide cross-mixing of the developer material. This may be achieved by moving the developer material axially along a roll 10. Roll 10 both cross-mixes the developer material and advances it into contact with the latent image so as to deposit particles thereon in image configuration. Developer roller 10 includes a magnet 12 having a stitch pole pattern thereon. Magnet 12 is disposed interiorly of tubular member 14. A shunt plate 16 is interposed between tubular member 14 and magnet 12. Shunt plate 16 is coupled to an oscillator so as to translate in the direction of arrow 18. Oscillation of shunt plate 16 varies the direction of developer material flow.
