Most full-f rame, multi-magnification copiers or duplicators are either edge registered or corner registered. Due to this type of registration, the optical axis o these machines shifts laterally as the magnificatioq is changed. Thus, a sec document irradiance profile will properly correct cos one magnification.

4 Typically, sec full-frame document illumination systems employ four xenon flash lamps where each lamp is operated at some fixed joule loading. If the joule loading is made to vary as a function of the magnification (reduction) of the copier, it should then be possible to veryqthe document irradiance profile in such a manner that it essentially corrects cos falloff (or more generally, relative illumination falloff) for each magnification.
