Abstract

It is known to use fluoroelastomers as the surface or covering material on a conformable fuser roll in an electrostatographic copying machine. The present invention provides a method for improving the release or abhesive properties of such a fusing device by using as the release fluid therewith a fluid which is a blend

It is known to use fluoroelastomers as the surface or covering material on a conformable fuser roll in an electrostatographic copying machine. The present invention provides a method for improving the release or abhesive properties of such a fusing device by using as the release fluid therewith a fluid which is a blend

Or a mixture of a conventional dimethylsiloxane release fluid with a fluoro- elastomer-compatible release fluid. Examples of such fluoroelastomer-compatible release fluids include the fluorosilicone oils available from the Dow Corning Company under its designation FS-1265 and the poly perfluoroalkyl oxides available from the E. I. Du Pont Company under its trade name of Krytox oils. These fluorcelastomer-compatible release fluids are compatible with the fluorocarbon- elastomer on the roll surface and thus can swell the surface of the roll. The use of a blend of the conventional dimethylsiloxane release fluid with such a fluoro- elastomer-compatible release fluid results in superior release performance of the fusing device.
